Medical Crisis/Health and Wellness Counseling

The research is clear that our behaviors and habits are linked to important health outcomes, including the prevention of illness and improved functioning and quality of life for people with chronic disease. As part of medical crisis and wellness counseling, I provide education, support, community resources and practical skills training for clients and their loved ones who have been recently diagnosed with a chronic medical condition, or who are having difficulties making needed lifestyle changes that are getting in the way of their health. Additional services include:

  • Chronic pain management
  • CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia)
  • Improving eating attitudes and behaviors
  • Skills training such as relaxation techniques, effective communication, pacing activities/priority setting, and problem solving
  • Optimize adaptation and adjustment to a new medical diagnosis, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, or diabetes
  • Coordinate and streamline services with multiple healthcare providers
